Populous: The Beginning Page 2 Populous Structures In Populous: The Beginning you can build several unique structures. First you'll build some domestic huts where you followers can regenerate themselves. They'll also make the hut larger if it becomes to small to live in. The more huts you have, the more followers. If you also build a fire-warrior trainer hut you can transform your braves into little fire-warriors. They can shoot powerful fireballs to your foes and it sure kicks ass! Or build a temple where you can transform any follower into a melee preacher. Preachers can be used very efficiently when they attack your enemy neighbour. When an enemy is near them they'll chanting passages of your holy scriptures and hypnotize the enemy to sit and listen to their wise words. When listening to those wise words the enemy follower will be transformed into someone of your own tribe. In other words, if you use their talent wisely you can convert foes to one of your own follower. Other structures that can be build are a guard tower, spy training hut, warrior training hut, boat house, balloon hut and a guard post. I noticed that these structures are very beautifully rendered in 3D and even if you use Bullfrog's own renderer software mode they still look awesome! Cast spells at your foes One of Populous: The Beginning nicest feature is that your Shaman has the ability to cast many cool spells at your foes. They are pretty amazing and they'll sure blow you away by their graphical effect, especially when you enable the D3D support. The Bullfrog guys simply amazed me with the look of those nasty spells because they all look so realistic. I noticed in my press file that there are about 26 devastating spells that the Shaman can unleash on non-believers. I especially liked the Volcano. This spell is simply the best I ever saw in any god sim. The Volcano will erupt immediately and everything that is near it will be destroyed by massive rocks and hot lava! The Volcano Spell     Of course the 15 other spells are also pretty amazing especially the tornado and the earthquake. Other spells are the Angel of Death, Erode, Lightning, Swamp, Swarm, Hypnotize, Firestorm and many more. Just great! But this third Populous game isn't much like the previous ones. This time Bullfrog opted for an isometric view that is much similar to Myth. It has a 360 degree rotational view which is very and I repeat very impressive. It's also very handy because you can actually view anything from any angle and everything is represented in true 3D. And for finishing the game you must first conquer 25 unique worlds.
