Fallout 2 A post nuclear Role Playing Game Page 2
The G.E.C.K.!
Well the story goes something like this. Eighty years later after that the Vault Dweller was expelled from his Vault 13 and that the Overseer was afraid that he would corrupt the Vault life in your hometown Arroyo, life hasn't been changed. The people of Arroyo are sick and are dying rapidly like apples that are falling from a tree. Most of the vegetation is killed due to the water shortage. The land is sick aswell which makes it very hard to plant anything. A Chosen One has been selected and whether you like it or not, they have chosen YOU. While you're a direct descendant of the Dweller its very natural to them that you were picked out and seek for the G.E.C.K. The GECK that is buried in Vault 13 stands for the Garden of Eden Creation Kit.
This kit, which is packed in a briefcase will bring a complete regeneration of life as we knew it several hundred years ago. Like the good old days, 80-year old people would tell me. So, you seek out that magical kit and getting trough the Wasteland isn't easy. Infact, it's hard like hell!
Maximum Installation ... 624Mb!
Inserting the Fallout 2 cd in my CD-Rom tray I was ready to begin my GECK quest. When the install screen pops up you basically have 4 install choices. It offers you a wide variety in Megabyte and even the low-end hard disk gamers will be satisfied. Small installation only requires 1.1 Mb!! Thats right, a bit more then 1 Mb. However, I strongly don't recommend this installation type because when you are changing screens the game will have very large loading times. Even with a high-end computer I can assure you that you will get a headache very soon. The alternative is the Medium mode which installs around 84.7 Mb on your hard disk. Still it ain't much and the loading times are still a bit high. It's alot better than that 1.1 Mb (com'on that has to be a joke right?) mode but it isn't what we want! The best install mode was for myself the Large one, 264.4 Mb. It isn't much either but the loading times are drastically improved. But if you want that it goes superfast then go for that Humongoes install mode. It will approximately install 623.8 Mb on your harddisk and normally there won't be any loading times. If you can spare the megabytes, go for this one.
Mingan, Chitsa or Narg
When you start a game you can select from 3 different characters. The first one is called 'Mingan' and he's a really good thief. If you want that he sneaks to people and steal something that you want without being caught than this is your guy. On the other hand if you want some diplomacy you better get 'Chitsa'. She is a real good listener and she will get alot of information without using any violence. If you rather want to negotiate with words than with voilence then Chitsa is the right person to deal with. The last but not least character is named 'Narg'. This big guy is a real barbarian fighter. A real fighting-machine. If you really want to damage everyone big time then Narg is definitely a good choice. Or you can choose for the 'Modify Character' option. Once selected you can modify every data from your selected character.
