Graphics
As for the graphics, they look good (I've said this already, havent I?). The night missions are awesome and the details on the car are just great. If you crash your car in the night, one or both of your headlights will break. This also goes for your taillights. This is just that extra bit of detail that makes a game a lot more realistic. Add to this other drivers, which can sometimes be really annoying. They'll nicely warn you when you're driving in the wrong direction or cut them off on an intersection.
Again, every texture is brilliantly drawn in the entire game. The game looks excellent in higher resolutions (1280x1024 or higher) but in 800x600, the image is still very high quality. There are some graphical bugs in it but a patch should fix this real soon.
Sound and Music
The sound effects that Reflections used in this driving game are really good. The sounds are clear and every noise from screeching the metal to burning tires are excellent represented.
Music tracks are really from the 60'-style but they do not irritate you at all. You don't get modern music styles, like techno, ambient etc ... but you do get classic tunes, like those from the Starscky and Hutch series. Pretty good.
Conclusion
Developed by Reflections and published by GT Interactive, Driver is really a nice addition to the driving genre. It isn't racing, stock car, or even NFS racing but it adds a completely new approach to 3D driving games where you don't have to race to get the first postion, no ... just complete your objectives. However, the game is a bit too hard. Even on easy, it is very difficult not to get busted by the cops and there are still some graphical bugs in the code. However, these should be patched really soon.
So my conclusion would be, if you're a really good driver, then Driver might just be the game for you, it has the looks but you need the skills.
