Crimson Skies
(based on v1.2)
Page 2

A bit too linear?

The main campaign is the part where you will spend most of your time as a single player.
The campaign is a standard linear affair, bringing you from mission to mission with the help of a background story. As you complete missions you earn money to buy new and hopefully better planes for your crew.

Some of the missions however are extremely hard and will force you to test out some different approaches.
Should you become too frustrated : if you fail a mission for the third time you have the option of skipping it.

After the campaign you can create as many airbattles as you want in the quick mission builder, so this game should stay on your hard drive for quite some time :-) which will score high on 'lastability'.

And the rest

The manual is a standard 'Microsoft' affair, which means as much as 'rather thin', but I have to admit that I didn't really need the manual as I started playing seconds after the installation completed.
The only negative point I can still think of are the very, very long loading times even on a machine with 128 Mb RAM, but that aside Crimson Skies is just a fun game to play!

Conclusion

Well after playing Crimson Skies, which was developed by 'Zipper Interactive' and published by 'Microsoft', for many hours and days I can clearly say that I have enjoyed it a lot!! I'm not very fond of arcade flight games, (I rather play pure flight sims) but still the action is here and it just keeps the adrenaline coming.

The graphics are pretty good, if you have a high-end machine. I do think that playing Crimson Skies on a medium game machine (450Mhz) in high-resolution (above 800x600) will not be that enjoyable like it should be.

So if you're into 'arcade flight games' where there is non-stop action, then you better grab Crimson Skies from your local store. You'll surely enjoy it!
