Since our Euro 2000 week is still running, we thought it would be great if we could show you an Interview with Top DJ Paul Oakenfold regarding Electronic Arts new soccer (football) game, Euro 2000! Paul is really one of the greatest DJ's on this Planet and he is also known world-wide! Since he composed the several music tracks in this soccer game we couldn't resist to add him to our 'Q&A section' and fire questions to him.
- PlayDevil.com: Are you a computer games player, if so your hit list would include which titles?
Paul: Yes. 'Ready to rumble', 'Playstation 111', and Euro 2000
- PlayDevil.com: How and why did you get involved with EA's Euro 2000?
Paul: 'EA Sports' approached me. I love football and was honoured to be asked.
- PlayDevil.com: Was it a conscious decision to choose a football game being such an avid fan?
Paul: It wasn't really a question of 'choosing' but being approached with a football game certainly helped!
- PlayDevil.com: What did the cyber scanning process involve?
Paul: While I was in LA doing a show I went to the studios where they sit you down and put a hat-type thing on your head, making you look like a bald headed alien (!?). The chair then rotates while they scan your whole head.... Very weird.
- PlayDevil.com: What was it like seeing a computer generated version of yourself?
Paul: Great!
- PlayDevil.com: Your tracks in Euro 2000 will be heard across Europe, how did you produce tracks that represent all the countries involved?
Paul: Travelling Europe as a DJ affords me the experience of knowing which arrangements will work and what people want to hear.
- PlayDevil.com: Are any of the tracks due for release?
Paul: There aren't any plans at the moment
- PlayDevil.com: How would you describe the tracks?
Paul: A cross section of uplifting melodic sounds to down tempo beats.
- PlayDevil.com: Did you draw on your own experiences from the terraces for musical inspiration?
Paul: Absolutely.
