A little Introduction

The secret temple of the Sith.
Mysteries Of The Sith starts 5 years after the victory of Kyle Katarn on the 7 Dark Jedi in Jedi Knight.
Kyle's reputation as a decent jedi has pulled the attention of Mara Jade - also Mercenary, Smuggler and Dark Jedi in training with Emperor Palpatine.

Before that, Luke Skywalker already convinced Mara during her career to leave the Dark Side.
Now, it is up to you to get rid of the Dark Side for good.

The Manual!

In this manual there are several sections that are well explained like how to install the game and the different setup options. They are pretty the same as in Jedi Knight except for some minor things like the colored lightning and the new gamecontrols.

We have also a section where the several weapons, characters and vehicles are put into detail with photos. A good thing to know is that every weapon is explained with some good tips on how to use it efficiently.
Power-ups and the several new and old Force Powers are included. It's good to know what FP you need to use at what time.

Multiplayer information has not been forgotten and takes about 5 à 6 pages. Everything you need to know about Sith's different Multiplayer modes is included.

The comeback of Jedi Knight

A while ago, LucasArts brought us the excellent Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight. It was a totally new game from the Star Wars masters.
With awesome smooth 3d-graphics (which supported most of todays's 3D-Accelerators) and a stunning soundtrack, it has set a new standard in 3D-SW games.
Now, LucasArts thought it was time to release another SW-game in the line of Jedi Knight called Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith.

An Official Expansion Pack that has to be used with Jedi Knight cd#2. Using some new features and a new sound this could be a winner.

But, is it?

Yes, it certainly is on several aspects. First of all, I want to say that this expansion pack is one of the best money can buy for Hit-games. Not every pack that is being released for an immense succesfull game is brilliant. After said that, lets move on.
For playing Mysteries Of The Sith, you will need the retail version of "Jedi Knight". Indeed, that's why they call it an Expansion Pack. Ahum. You just need to put the JK cd#2 into your CD-Rom drive and let the installation program of Sith do the rest. Pretty easy.

After installation, minimum here takes about 53MB of free Hard Disk space which ain't a lot. But I rather suggest that installing more will improve gamespeed. Can't imagine that there are still gamers around with 100MB Hard Disks.
After installation, run the game and you see a nice welcoming intro and main screen. There you have basically the same options like in Jedi Knight so I won't do that part since you must have JK in order to play Sith.

Kyle and Mara Jade!

You play the role of 'Kyle Katarn', 5 years after the victory in Jedi Knight. There are major problems with the Dark Side, as usual, and of course it is up to you to wipe those out. There are some new weapons but also some have been intact since JK made its entry. The well known Light Saber is now a full automatic weapon, which means that you can use it at any time. Unlike JK, where you could only use it when you picked it up.

Not only do you play the role of Kyle, but after level 4, you start playing with a new character called 'Mara Jade'. A woman who is also known as a mercenary and a smuggler. From here on, the game takes an different swing from usual combat scenes to puzzle solving.

The several Force Powers are also present but LucasArts made the use of it more important then in Jedi Knight.
Here in Mysteries Of The Sith, Force Powers are absolutely a necessity on several locations. Without them, it is quite impossible to bring your mission to a good end. Also, you can't use those powers 2 or 3 times at the same time. They are automatically but slowly refilling themselfes.
Some Powers are hidden and can only be found when you explore everything.
