A little Introduction

Now time is right to give in to that dark creepy desire of yours, the feeling of being a murderer, a thief, a guy who kills cops, a coke dealer, a guy who kills even more cops, a carjacker, a guy who kills too much cops.
You've got the chance, so grab it! But maybe you need some advice...

GTA 2?

'Grand Theft Auto: London 1969' is the stand-alone add-on pack of the original GTA, as you probably already figured out yourself.
The game takes place in London, capital of the United Kingdom (oh really?!), and for all those who dislike those Britains, wonderful times have come to them.
Something that immediately hits your eyes is the fact that the menu is built very simple. Just four options to choose from, and when you choose the option 'options' (hey! don't start to make it difficult eh!), an option which in other games is overwhelmed with a hell of a lot of choices (graphical, musical, control options...), Rockstar keeps it plain simple with just four things: brightness, sound, music and text mode.
So, I hadn't had to change one of the options and I pushed the Play button. In fact, there is no mouse support so I had to push the enter button manually.
Too bad!

Choose your Criminal

You can choose from 8 criminals your wannabe. Then your first mission starts and you're off for the longest criminal record someone has ever had.
The first campaign lets you understand the game principles and how to control your character.
Especially for those who have never played Grand Theft Auto they can learn the controls of the car and the use of weapons. Like in the original game, controls are very sensitive and well balanced. Good point here.
In the first campaign, you're just a small guy-of-nothing whose job is to act and to keep his mouth shut. For experienced GTA players, the first campaign is played out in a couple of minutes. At the end of this campaign, you will meet your boss, Harold Cartwright, for whom you will work until the end of the game.

In the next campaigns, your main goal is to achieve a predefined score. In the second campaign, this is 100000 points, in the third 200000, and in the fourth (which happens to be the last), you will have to score 300000 to achieve a higher rank in the mobs hierarchy. How do you get to those scores? From within the start, Harold calls you and gives you tasks. Those tasks range from small deliveries to stealing cars or blowing things up.
The more missions you successfully complete, the more points you will get for doing 'normal' things, for example, having an accident, driving over a cop who wants to stop you, carjacking etcetera ...

The people of Rockstar didn't make it easy for you to accomplish your missions.
By stealing a car or a bike, you're attracting attention and in no time several pursue cars hit the road with just one order: to prevent you from even more mayhem in the london streets. To distract the attention of the cops, you can go to a garage, where your car can be painted in another color. Bye bye cops!

Another way to mislead the police is to find a bribe, which is hidden in a box. There are many other things that can disturb your way to success: you can die by exploding bombs or by gunfire.
Accomplishing a mission means more points for your balance, to die or going to jail means negative points for your balance. So you better watch out when you're deciding to kill some people for fun!
They're after you.
