A little Introduction

You've never gone this fast. You've never fought this hard. Get with the future...
Dethkarz delivers blazing arcade-style combat racing action like never before. Strap yourself into one of Dethkarz' futuristic fighting cars and face off against the opposition, race furiously across spectacular tracks, unleash devastation with super-destructive weapons and powerups, compete in different race classes and different play modes.

Smile for the camera's ... then kill or be killed!

Action with a big 'A'!

Woem Woem BOEM.
These noises will constantly overwhelm you during all your rides. Taking at an insane pace too severe bends, while trying to blow up the other pilots. Must be possible, I think.
When we first installed the game, we didn't know what to expect. Dethkarz? Never heard of it, even seen no publicity or commercials, and this in a time where we only see games that were following themselves up, like for example Tomb Raider I, II and III. Playing hard to get maybe?
Once we started up the game, we were immediately surprised. A real blast of an intro (a pity it's too short), which isn't meant for the average epilepticus, I can assure you ...Well, we knew only one thing: there is heavy action on its way!

The Story

Yes, Dethkarz even has a story! (like we need one in a race game). The story goes as follows: Somewhere in a far future, people are bored to death, and so, a company named Race Corps, decided to design some race vehicles to conquer the streets.
Immediately there were enough people who lived up again and became race pilots in the very deadliest race ever made. Teams didn't call 'Williams' or 'Benetton' any more: people smiled when they heared names like Anassi or Hyperon. You too?

Beam me up, Scotty!

The raceworld of Race Corps is made up of 4 environments: Metro City (tunnels), The Pole (icy), Grand Keys (water) and the Red Planet (looks a bit like the planet Mars - I think, because I've never been there).
The environments are fully built up in 3D, so in contrast with other games of this genre you don't ride between two walls. An open 3D landscape brings up some great advantages. Clever guys can make a enormous shortcut by taking an exactly executed jump.
However, if you miscounted your jump, you land next of the track, which means losing valuable time. Your car will automatically be placed back, but you will certainly loose some places.
Before a race, there are no free trainings or qualifications to do, just start up your engine and go! No qualification means also that you always will start at the end of the start grid. But 'Hey'! That isn't a problem for us killers isn't it? First thing you will learn, is that you have to be a F1 pilot and a thorough killer at the same time to make some success in this game. To dispatch your enemies, Race Corps has featured some nice guns.

Sweet Weapons

The first one - standard option next to the airbag - is the laser cannon. The laser cannon is a weak one, but it fires very fast, and you can't underestimate it. The more heavy guns, aren't standard, you have to pick them up. Several of those are lying on the tracks, so when you're riding over one, your opponents have something to be afraid of.
The pickups vary: some are mines, other firebombs, other rockets... A good shot and your enemy is history. If you bomb another car, you'll see an explosion that makes you say only one thing: WOW!
What a blast! A massive explosion hits your screen, a moment where you can't see anything. Cool!
Of course, you can kick everyone's ass who's crossing your path, but you will lose time... and also important points for the Championship. Getting 32 points (on a maximum of 40) means going to another, higher level (yeah, you can of course ride on that one track having fun with blasting everyone in outer space, but I don't think that's very appealing). To score 32 points, you must certainly end every race within the three first drivers, for unexperienced drivers a hell of a job.
Competition is really heavy on the streets, and they don't give presents... If they're out to get you, call mama!
